Aramco and METI Discuss Future Cooperation on Energy Security

Aramco Asia Japan K.K. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Waleed M. Murad; hereafter “AAJ”) announced that Aramco Downstream President Mohammed Y. Al Qahtani visited Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) on June 1, 2026.
During the visit, Aramco and METI reaffirmed their long-standing strategic partnership, built on more than eight decades of collaboration with Japanese partners. AAJ highlighted its role in supporting engagement and facilitating ongoing dialogue between Aramco and key stakeholders in Japan.
Building on existing agreements, Aramco and METI expressed their intention to further deepen cooperation in the stable supply of Saudi crude oil to Japan. Both sides also said they would continue to support initiatives aimed at strengthening energy security in their respective countries.
AAJ noted that Aramco and METI will maintain close coordination to explore further areas of collaboration. Both sides also reaffirmed their shared vision for strengthening bilateral energy ties and contributing to global energy stability.
