Showa Shell is not only one of the largest oil refining and marketing companies in Japan, but a leader in the production of solar energy materials.
In 2004, Saudi Aramco acquired nearly a 15 per cent interest in Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. Headquartered in Tokyo.
Owning oil refineries in Yokkaichi, Keihin and Yamaguchi, the company has a combined capacity of approximately 445,000 barrels per day and markets refined products through a Shell-branded retail network of around 3,200 service stations. Petroleum products, such as marine bunkers, lubricants, bitumen and LPG are also marketed.
Energising solar technology
And so as well as its oil refineries, Showa Shell offers an extensive line up of petroleum alternatives, including solar energy and hydrogen fuel.
Its Solar Frontier sector is the world’s largest provider of CIS thin-film solar modules and continues to pioneer new solar technology – enabling lower energy requirements in manufacturing and higher energy output from its solar products.
These are just some of the ways we’re using our investments in Japan to help develop some of the country’s very best energy sources.
